The Bearing Oil Analyser—also known as a pump oil sight glass or sludge cup—is a simple condition-monitoring device that protects bearings, gearboxes, and other critical rotating equipment by providing early, visible indication of oil condition and contamination. It would usually be located underneath an oil sump or gearbox housing assuming there is enough space.
