The Bearing Oil Analyser, also known as a Pump Oil Sight Glass / Sludge Cup, is a simple, effective condition-monitoring device designed to protect bearings, gearboxes, and other critical rotating assets by providing clear, early insight into bearing oil health.
Used globally across chemical plants, oil refineries, power utilities, and pump manufacturers, the BOA is installed on pumps with oil sumps and integrates directly into existing equipment.
“This product started with an order from Exxon/Mobil Fawley Refinery UK for 1200 units”
How it Works

Installed into the pump housing drain plug, beneath the bearing housing or sump
Continuously shows oil condition and oil-to-water contamination
Allows oil sampling via an integrated ball valve without dismantling the pump
Provides early warning of contamination, extending bearing life and improving pump reliability
Key Features
Sight glass with integrated magnet to capture metallic wear particles
Sludge collection area for visual inspection of contaminants
Quick removal and disassembly during pump isolation for cleaning
Reassembled with new O-rings for reliable re-installation
Type 7 is a compact version available for applications with limited clearance beneath the bearing housing
Why It Matters
Contaminated oil kills bearings. The BOA makes contamination visible before it becomes a failure — reducing unplanned downtime, preventing catastrophic damage, and extending asset life.

The image on the left shows the sight glass containing oil and water. Water is heavier than oil, therefore is seen at the bottom. The image on the right is demonstrating the use of the magnet attracting any metal particles that is contaminating the oil in the sump.
