Flowstar is the UK’s largest stockist of pressure reducing valves, offering a comprehensive range for immediate despatch. Most in-stock pressure reducing valve orders are shipped the same day when placed before 5pm (4:30pm on Fridays), ensuring fast and reliable delivery across the UK. The only exception is if the flanges on the pressure reducing valve need drilling (some G4's), then this may delay shipping by one working day. For resellers and businesses purchasing pressure reducing valves regularly, Flowstar provides competitive trade discounts on listed prices. To discuss pricing or place an order, contact our team at sales@flowstar.co.uk or call 01482 601030 today.
Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) are mechanical devices used to regulate and reduce fluid pressure in a system to a desired level. They're commonly used in plumbing, industrial applications, gas systems, and hydraulic networks.
PRVs operate by using Spring-loaded diaphragms or pistons to maintain downstream pressure. When downstream pressure exceeds the set point, the valve closes to restrict flow. When pressure drops, the valve opens to increase flow.
Types of PRVs
Direct-Acting PRVs
Simple design
Suitable for small systems or low flow rates
Less precise
Pilot-Operated PRVs
More accurate and stable under varying flow conditions
Used in larger or industrial systems
Handles higher flows and pressures
Common Applications
Water systems: Prevents overpressure damage in residential and commercial plumbing.
Steam systems: Protects boilers and piping from excessive pressure.
Air and gas systems: Ensures safe and efficient distribution.
Hydraulic systems: Regulates pressure to prevent component damage.
