CONCOA

CONCOA make a wide range of pressure regulators, but they are particularly good with high purity gases and horrible nasty gases which most others struggle to manage. They serve a very wide range of industries including industrial, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, analytical, scientific, aerospace, environmental, medical, petrochemical, and metalworking. Their product range is split into the 100, 200, 300 and 400 series (400 is the highest performance). They also have other ranges with specific purposes in mind i.e. medical oxygen, medical air, industrial laser process gases, welding heating and cutting, electrically heated etc (for these see their website). They can be provided them as single stage or dual stage regulators with rear mounting and panel mounting options. NB: If you didn’t already know, with a single stage regulator the outlet pressure will change slightly as the inlet pressure changes i.e. as the gas bottle pressure drops as it empties. With a dual stage regulator, the pressure is reduced in two stages inside the regulator and consequently the outlet pressure remains much more constant with a changing inlet pressure. Single stage regulators are cheaper and perfectly suitable if the inlet pressure is constant or the exact outlet pressure is not critical or were an operator can monitor and readjust. CONCOA manufacture their highest performance regulators (the 300 and 400 Series) with a specially designed CAPSULE® that incorporates the numerous individual parts of a standard regulator seat into a single component. This results in an even longer life and even higher reliability (see our technical section for more information). Range Comparison

400 Series

Choose the CONCOA 400 Series if you need top-of-the-line purity, safety, and leak containment, especially for toxic or ultra-sensitive gas applications.

  • Incorporates Capsule® seat, metal‑to‑metal diaphragm seal, 10μm filtration.
  • Can be supplied with a pipe‑away relief valve and captured‑vent capability — ideal for toxic gas service.
  • Extremely low leak rate - 1×10-9 scc/sec or 31.7 years to leak 1cm2 of helium.
  • Best for ultra‑high purity, analytical, calibration, chromatography, cryogenic, and EPA‑protocol environments.

300 Series

The CONCOA 300 Series offers a balance of high-purity performance without the advanced venting features—great for most lab environments.

  • Incorporates a Capsule® seat, metal‑to‑metal diaphragm seal, 10μm filtration.
  • No pipe-away relief valve, no captured vent capability.
  • Low leak rate - 1×10-8 scc/sec or 3.2 years to leak 1cm2 of helium.
  • Suited for high‑purity lab environments—chromatography, calibration, carrier gas supply—where ultra‑tight leak containment is less critical.

200 Series

The CONCOA 200 Series is your go-to for a reliable yet affordable high-purity regulator where leak integrity demands are moderate.

  • Standard seat, no special filter.
  • No pipe-away relief valve, no captured vent capability.
  • Low leak rate - 1×10-8 scc/sec or 3.2 years to leak 1cm2 of helium.
  • Ideal for general high-purity tasks (purging, calibration).

100 Series

The CONCOA 100 Series is the simplest and most budget-friendly regulator —optimal when purity requirements are minimal or not critical.

  • Standard seat, no special filter.
  • No pipe-away relief valve, no captured vent capability.
  • Low leak rate - 1×10-8 scc/sec or 3.2 years to leak 1cm2 of helium.
  • Standard lab/industrial uses where ultra-purity not needed.

Selecting Regulator Materials
The choice of regulator material should match both the properties and the purity requirements of the gas being used. CONCOA offers regulators made from brass, 316L stainless steel, and chrome-plated brass, each suited to different applications.

  • Brass: A cost-effective option compatible with most non-reactive gases. Available in forged or barstock bodies. Forged bodies are economical but have relatively rougher internal finishes. Barstock bodies are machined to a smooth finish on all wetted surfaces, reducing the contamination risk.
  • Chrome-Plated Brass: Combines the economy of brass with the added benefits of a hard, smooth chrome surface. The plating improves wear resistance, lowers contamination potential, and provides a higher level of cleanliness—making these regulators suitable for applications where both performance and appearance are important.
  • 316L Stainless Steel: Preferred for corrosive or highly reactive gases (especially in anhydrous form). It offers outstanding corrosion resistance, strength, and durability, ensuring long service life in demanding conditions.

For best results, always consult compatibility charts or your gas supplier to confirm the appropriate material of construction for your application.

Specialized Treatments
For applications where 316L stainless steel alone does not provide sufficient inertness or corrosion resistance, CONCOA also offers regulators with advanced surface treatments to maximize analytical accuracy and durability.

  • SilcoNert™ 2000 Coating: Applied to the 420 Series, 430 Series, and 515 Series, this proprietary amorphous silicon treatment greatly improves both inertness and corrosion resistance, making these regulators ideal for handling reactive calibration standards.
  • Dursan®-Treated Nickel Plating: The 455 Series features electroless nickel-plated bodies with internal components treated using Dursan®, delivering excellent resistance to aggressive gases such as chlorides and sulfides.
  • Fluorine Service: For systems using fluorine or fluorinated gases, CONCOA provides special passivation treatments that further enhance material compatibility and long-term performance.
