Safety Valve Cut Away Diagram
The cutaway diagram illustrates the key components of a typical spring-loaded API safety relief valve. An API safety valve is a pressure relief device designed in accordance with American Petroleum Institute standards, most commonly API Standard 526. These valves are installed on pressurised systems—such as pipelines, pressure vessels, and reactors—to protect equipment and personnel by relieving excess pressure before failure or explosion can occur.
Cutaway diagrams are particularly useful for understanding valve construction and operation, and are commonly used during maintenance, inspection, and fault-finding.
Non-API safety valves share many of the same core components but typically differ in several respects. They may not include a blowdown ring, the disc and disc holder may be combined into a single component, and the valve may not have a separate inlet nozzle, with the seat formed directly in the valve body.
